Course Objectives: To provide training in accordance with the requirements of The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (as applied to Power Presses).
Course Specification:
- The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (as applied to Power Presses) content applicable to the safe use of power presses and press brakes
- Relevant sections of: – The Health and Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974 and Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
- Power Press Mechanisms in detail related to your press types including what all the visual and audible indicators are that a safety critical component part of the press could imminently “fail to danger”.
- Guards and Protection Devices: types and function, methods of installing, inspecting and testing including detection of defects. Guard design for ease of production and toolsetting. BS13857 – 2008 the minimum distances for guards away from traps. HSG 180 the application of photoelectric sensing devices
- Press maintenance with regard to safety and economic and efficient production
- HSG 236 Power Presses: Maintenance and Thorough Examination
- Safe methods of work, toolsetting for safety and efficient production. The mechanics and methods of tool clamping
- Press setters and all others who either set, adjust or try out tools, or install, adjust, inspect and test tool guards and protection devices
- Power press maintenance personnel
- Tool room personnel
- Supervisors and managers of the above activities
