Course Objectives: To provide training in accordance with the requirements of The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (as applied to Power Presses).
Course Objectives:
To provide training in accordance with the requirements of The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (as applied to Power Presses), applicable only to a circumstance where attending delegates use a very limited variety of press and guard types; e.g.
- Only fully revolution clutch presses with fixed guards
- Only press brakes or;
- Only part revolution clutch presses
- Hydraulic presses and press brakes
Course Specification:
- The Power Press Regulations, ACOP and Guidance 1998
- The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (as applied to Presses) content applicable to the safe use of power presses e.g. Regulation 11 – Dangerous Parts of Machinery
- Relevant sections of: – The Health and Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974 and Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
- Power Press Mechanisms
- Guards and Protection Devices: types and functions, methods of installing, inspecting and testing including detection of defects
- Guard design for ease of production and tool setting. BS 13857: 2008 – the minimum distances for guards away from traps. HSG 180 the application of photoelectric sensing devices
This course is designed for:
- Press setters and all others who either set, adjust or try out tools, or install, adjust, inspect and test tool guards and protection devices
- Tool room personnel
- Supervisors and managers of the above activities
